    Mrs. Maureen DeMeo

Our Lady’s is delighted with the outstanding achievements of our hardworking students. Once again Year 11 rose to the increased challenges of the changed examination system. These changes led to an increase in the number of formal examinations set against a much more challenging curriculum content and escalated rigour in an ever changing educational climate. A significant number of our Year 11 students achieved over 10 higher grade passes with some exceptional performances at A/A* equivalent grades.

Alison Knight, Headteacher, is highly delighted with the school’s results. She congratulates both students and staff on their hard work and excellent achievements and wishes the students of 2017 every success as they continue their educational journey post-16. Kath Gresty, Chair of Governors, endorsed the Headteacher’s comments and expressed her thanks on behalf of the governing body as ‘once again all members of Our Lady’s community worked together to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our students’.

As a school we strive to develop individual potential across all ability ranges and this year is no exception. It is with great pleasure that as a school we acknowledge some of our most outstanding performances. Taylor Jones achieved the equivalent of 12 higher grade passes with 11 being at A*/A grades, an incredible performance. Head Girl Lydia Moore and Head Boy Joey Anderson added to the school’s impressive results with 12 or above higher grade passes and 6 A*/A grades in addition to their demanding leadership duties. Other notable results were: Ellen Adkins, Cerys Beamer, Aaron Blain, Michael Lawton, Alisha Fry, Bryony Rushton, Erin Sanderson, Abigail Schofield, Anne-Marie Spencer and Chloe Yates who all achieved at least 12 equivalent higher grade passes and 6 or more A*/A grades.

As an Engineering specialist college it is pleasing to report successes in our STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), including: 100% in Engineering, 81% in Technology, 82% in Biology and we have maintained high outcomes in the new Maths and English exams, despite curriculum change; such results are a testimony to the students’ relentless hard work, dedication and high aspirations.
