Television is not only entertain us also gives us good knowledge of the world with just switch on. If one has not a tv set it means he has no knowledge of the world. Now it has became one of the basic need among food, clothing, shelter and TV. There is a lot of educational programme that gives us a lot of educational which gives us handy knowledge of geography, mechanical, literature, current issues and event. And one doesn’t need to read a newspaper. Just within few minutes watch and listen the news and live reports. Children can play games in it. That time has gone when you need to go to parks, evening walks for recreation.
A study reveals children became aggressive and quarrelsome those who watch the fighting and horror movies and serials, which children prefer most. Watching TV for hours is not a healthy practice for both physical and mental health, it creates eye redness, burning sensation in eye, etc. People watch to TV so much that they even watch the cricket match in office. Some avail leave to watch cricket matches which affects the office works at the same time of our country. Another study reveals that 59% of Indian watches TV 5-6 hours a day and 3.2% in woman, which has raisen to 22% in comparison to the year 2009. Most of houses have two TV set. We are so much associates with it that they are living under one roof. One comes from office and stick to TV, Grandpa doesn’t like enough to go to parks or play with his grand children rather prefers to watch some spiritual serial, movie or some other programme, which leads to less interaction with family members and it lessen time to interact with family members.

It is difficult to imagine a world without television, especially when it is about school students who just cannot seem to do without their daily television viewing. An average school student spends around 8 to 9 hours daily at school and after they come home they want to relax and unwind which they usually do by watching their favourite TV programmes.

Television is good for students: Television provides a medium through which students can watch many informative and education related programmes from all over the world that too from the comforts of their homes. They can learn a lot of new things from the channels that telecast very good quality educational and informative content related to education, like science, engineering, wildlife, history, geography, and culture.
Watching news on television from different channels and mediums will increase their general knowledge and keep them updated with what is happening around the world and at home. After spending long hours on studies students get tired then they can easily relax by watching good movies or serials as entertainment. In fact, there are many channels that air programmes exclusively for students.
Students who have a keen interest in sports can watch different sports as there are many sports channels which show matches, tournaments etc. from different places. Watching international matches and players will help them improve their game and skills.
Many television programmes tell about countries, places, and cultures. This will enhance their information about various countries, languages, traditions, lifestyles, attire and cultures.
Television is bad for students: Television programmes are running around the clock and the number of channels has been only growing. With so much of expansion and exposure, students will lose all their focus and concentration from studies. If they will be watching television all the time then it will affect their health as there will be no physical activity which mostly results in obesity, fatigue, and laziness.
Watching too much of television is harmful to eyes and eyesight. As children will remain confined to their houses they will have no friends and no social life which will obstruct their personality development leading to behavioural problems.
Too much of television affects the development of the brain and muscles. It might also interfere with hormonal imbalance. All these combined are very harmful and can have long lasting repercussions.
Sometimes students watch TV programmes or movies which are not appropriate for their age group and can mislead them with their content. Things like violence, bloodshed, sex, alcohol, drugs etc. might disturb the young minds, encouraging them to emulate what is shown on TV. Hence parents have to constantly monitor them and keep a watchful eye.
